Floor Graphic Decals

Custom Printed Removable Vinyl Floor Decals and Carpet Decals for Floor Advertising

Floor graphics are huge decals digitally printed on a vinyl base with a laminate on top. They are literally vinyl signs on the ground. But unlike other forms of advertising, floor decals have a safety factor that requires a knowledgeable printer, using the proper materials. Specifically a three-part system of a 4 mil lay-flat vinyl substrate, high performance removable acrylic adhesive, and a 6 mil slip-resistant over-laminate on top. The laminate even provides glare resistance from overhead lighting. If your printer skimps on just one of these important UL recognized materials, your floor decal could become a safety hazard. At Dilco, we are asked to quote projects with inferior substrates or components. We can't. There's a reason clients return to us over and over to make their graphics for floor and carpet advertising. We are competitive, but we also do things the right way. It's one of the reasons we've been doing this for over 40 years.

Want to know how well they hold up? For starters, we've had some of these decals on the floor of our shop for over a year. In a print shop! They're still vibrant, they're not scuffed, they don't move ... until we move them. Yep, still re-positional and they still leave absolutely no residue. They even hold up to mild cleaning agents (we do clean our floors every now and then). So what can they do for you?

Because they use the floor as their canvas, these removable decals are literally the biggest signs in the store. They can be placed at the point of sale or in the aisles in front of your product. By reinforcing your branding with graphic decals on the floor, shoppers can't help but notice. And buy. We've outlined the top 5 reasons to use floor graphics and 16 of the best places to use them for effective product sales and branding.

These are just a handful of the reasons advertising on the floor with graphic signage can make a bigger impact than any other point of purchase display. To demonstrate the overall impact of quality design and printing, let's take a closer look at the floor graphic we used in the header of this page.

Whether it's a grocery store, c-store, or liquor store, it's essentially a box. There are shelves and displays everywhere within that box. Given all the merchandise on those shelves and displays, advertising space is incredibly limited. And squishy. With all the shelf wobblers hanging down, aisle violators standing up, and shelf strips running parallel, those shelves are a busy, busy place. The floors? Not so much. They are virtually your 5th wall when it comes to marketing. And that's why it's so important to think inside the box. All the box.

The floors are real estate that render themselves blank canvases. Canvases perfect for your brand, your product, your artwork, and your promotion. That's where floor graphics come in. For starters, floor graphics are large. They have to be. The floor is large. They don't have to fight for attention. Let me say that one more time, they don't have to fight for attention. Even if a consumer doesn't stop their cart in their tracks to read the graphic, they'll get it. They've seen it. They've subconsciously made note of it. That's because floor graphics are literally advertising signs on the floor. In the store. Where the consumer is. Where the consumer may pass that signage more than once. They don't have to be standing in front of your product. They don't have to look up. They don't even have to look down; they will see it naturally as they approach it.

Since it takes the average person about 5 seconds to see something and register it, imagine having that time all to yourself. If your floor graphic is the only advertising they're seeing during this 5 seconds, doesn't it stand to reason that it will make a bigger impression? Add that to the fact that they can't miss it due to its size, and it's easy to see why floor advertising works so well.

Given the lack of competition, nothing says "Hel-lo!" like a floor graphic decal. Having your branding on a decidedly less crowded playing field will garner attention like nothing else. Combine location with great photo-realistic graphics and you end up with one very effective marketing tool. That's part of the beauty of 4-color process printing. It can make a pistachio nut look like you could reach out and grab it right off the floor (5-second rule notwithstanding).

Many of the floor graphics and carpet graphics we make are 5 or even 6 feet long. That's about 15 times bigger than a shelf wobbler. Bigger signage means bigger graphics and that means humongous branding. And a perfect place for extra large floor or carpet graphic decals is at a trade show. Larger-than-life images will definitely drive traffic to your booth or display.

No, it's not an oxymoron. Floor graphics will adhere for months, yet are easily removed when it's time for a new campaign message. We offer two types of material; one for hard floor surfaces, and one for commercial carpets. With digital printing, we can even accommodate extra-large floor graphics, 52" wide by however long you need.

Stores aren't the only places to use floor graphics. Anywhere you want your branding, product, promotion or event to be noticed is a good place for floor graphics or carpet graphics. Here are 15 ideas just to get you started.

Since I always like to tell you how stuff is made, here's the low-down on how we make them; and a recap of all the technical stuff. Floor graphics are basically really big decals. If the quantity is small, we digitally print them. If, on the other hand, you need several hundred, then screen printing is far more cost-effective. There are virtually no size limitations. They can be up 52" wide and however long you need them. They're printed on 4 mil white floor graphic vinyl. Next, we add a 6 mil non-slip laminate. As I stated at the beginning of this article (but bears repeating), all the materials we use for floor graphics are UL recognized. To finish them, they're either square cut or custom die cut. The adhesive will make these guys stick for months, yet they're easy as pie to remove once the promotion's over.
